Charlotte Mclean co-founded Die Berner Band with Izabela Orzelowska in 2020 when she moved to Bern, Switzerland. During the COVID-19 pandemic it became increasingly difficult to travel and work internationally so she set up a sibling company of badbodychaoscode to continue to develop the work across Switzerland.

Since its inception Die Berner Band have gained residencies at Dampfzentrale and TANZhAUS Bern and have toured to Montsomnia Festival, Vielfest bei Worb, Stadt Kunst Fest, Die Alte Schreinerei, Alte Münze Berlin and Bucht Der Träumer Berlin to name a few.

Charlotte Mclean and Izebela Orzelowska developed a work of badbodychaoscode's: #sisterswhospittogetherstaytogether to perform it in Satellit Gallery, Zürich, Feb 2020. The work transformed from the stage to the gallery, as a means to comment on the recurring violence at the Frauenstreiks through the city.

 

Band members; Charlotte Mclean, Izabela Orzelowska and Giuliana Beya Dridi developed the work further and led the curation of a month long exhibition at Kunstraum Dreiviertel, Bern in December 2024 titled RAGE COW spit FLESH. This was an anti-dance performance and an alternative Christmas window display. 

 

Charlotte Mclean and Giuliana Beya Dridi will continue to develop this idea, transforming it into a full length production titled 'spit' for September 2025.
