SLAPmoves, York

This evening Jay Yule performed 'And' as part of SLAPmoves at the York Theatre Royal. SLAPmoves is an annual performance evening supporting emerging contemporary choreographers and performers.

As the solo began in 2017 with a text message I sent to Jay, it seemed fitting that Jay could take the premise of the solo and make it her own. We worked together in a park, where the first rehearsal of And was and solidified Jay's own movement language. And celebrates individuality and your unique way of moving so whoever performs And does exactly that, by being comfortable in your own movement language and improvising it on the event of a performance.
